you can’t go home…

Whoever coined the phrase “You can’t go home” sure had it correct.  From the moment I stepped off of the plane in my hometown of Louisville, Ky I felt strangely out of place.  For so long, I had waited to arrive ‘home’, to see familiar faces and places.  Vegas had begun to feel more like a home to me, complete with a new job, friends and activities, but  I have yet to feel quite attached to my new brightly lit residence…until NOW.  Coming back to Louisville had its many advantages.  I have been able to reconnect with all I had left behind those many months ago.

I think I had expected all things here to have not changed at all…oh how this was not the case.  I’ve begun to realize that life did not stop when I changed my whole life by moving across the country, far from what I have always known.  It seems that everything has changed, and I am no longer a part of those significant yet slight differences.   I have missed home for months and anticipated coming back only to arrive and find that maybe I didn’t miss home as much as I thought.  For the most part, I have missed seeing my sweet brother grow in leaps in bounds!!  Spending time with my little Garet has been beyond a blessing.

I have learned over the past few weeks here in Louisville that I do miss my family and seeing how the dynamic changes from day to day, but have also seen how the Lord is using my life and testimony in my new home of Vegas.  God has confirmed my call to Las Vegas through a series of circumstances while being home…and for that I am so grateful.
